      TRANSAERO TOURS CENTER, Irkutsk branch, invites everyone to Lake Baikal surroundings to get a great experience of wilderness. Baikal is easily the deepest lake in the world (1637m). In summer, it’s crystalline blue waters are transparent to a depth of fourty meters, and it’s shores are ringed with mountains with never-melting snow on the peaks. Since 1992 Lake Baikal and the entire surrounding area have been designated as a national park, and Baikal is today a naturalist’s paradise and idyllic holiday destination. With fine beaches, excellent hiking, white water rafting and pleasure boating, Baikal is well-positioned to become one of the most attractive vacation spots in Asia. Reach in rivers and wildlife it bursts with almost every kind of landscape imaginable and much of it is relatively unexplored. The Lake region is home to an enormous variety of plants and animals, most of which- like Nerpa, the lake’s freshwater seal and omul salmon-are found nowhere else in the world. Bear, elk, lynx and sable abound in the surrounding forests.
